Les Frères

2020
The estate's flagship cuvée, this Cabernet Sauvignon, complex, dense and opulent, will reveal all its secrets after a few years of ageing."

Appelation

AOC Anjou Villages

Terroir

Anjou Noir. Schist and sandstone soils of the Armorican Massif, bordered by the Layon.

Viticulture

Vines certified organic since 2024, trained using cordon and double Guyot methods, mostly over 30 years old. Mechanical soil work, with flowering fallow land sown to boost biodiversity and soil life. No chemical inputs, following a transition begun in 2021. Hand-harvested with strict sorting in the vineyard.

Winemaking and Ageing

Minimal intervention in the cellar. Slow, cold pressing, with alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Once at the winery, our grapes are fully destemmed, then transferred to stainless steel tanks for a 21-day maceration. The wine is then aged for one year in 228-litre oak barrels.

Vintage

2020 will be remembered as a sun-drenched, early vintage on the Loire. A hot, dry summer, harvest beginning as early as late August in impeccable condition, and grapes brought to optimal ripeness by wide temperature swings late in the season. The reds show concentration, aromatic intensity, and ripe tannins.

Tasting Notes

The deep garnet robe with ruby highlights announces a fine, elegant nose, blending ripe black fruit with well-integrated woody notes after several years in the cellar. The palate is full and silky, carried by the vintage's natural richness and perfectly integrated barrel ageing. The tannins, now velvety, give this wine an elegant, persistent texture — a fine maturity that reflects the ageing potential of this schist terroir.

Food & Wine Pairing

Côte de bœuf au brasero et légumes de saison.
Gigue de chevreuil, jus réduit et purée de châtaignes.

Ageing & Serving

From 5 to 15 years. Serve between 16°C and 18°C.
