La Chapelle

2022
A Chenin Blanc unctuous, generous and gastronomic.

Appelation

AOC Anjou Blanc

Terroir

Anjou Noir. Schist and sandstone soils of the Armorican Massif, bordered by the Layon.

Viticulture

Vines certified organic since 2024, trained using cordon and double Guyot methods, mostly over 30 years old. Mechanical soil work, with flowering fallow land sown to boost biodiversity and soil life. No chemical inputs, following a transition begun in 2021. Hand-harvested with strict sorting in the vineyard.

Winemaking and Ageing

Minimal intervention in the cellar. Sorting in the winery. Judicious use of sulphur. Aged for one year in 228-litre barrels. Partial ouillage.

Vintage

2022 will be remembered as a great sun-drenched vintage in the Loire. A historically dry summer concentrated the berries and called for constant vigilance in the vineyard. The early harvest took place in impeccable sanitary conditions, combining both volume and quality after several difficult years. The white wines show beautiful ripeness, marked aromatic richness, and a fine, lingering finish.

Tasting Notes

La Chapelle Blanche 2022 offers a complex nose, buttery and oaky, dotted with notes of nuts. The attack is smooth, and the palate is rich and expansive, revealing aromas of warm baked apple, nuts, and curry, leading to a long, lingering finish with earthy, forest-floor undertones.

Food & Wine Pairing

Poulet à la Gaston Gérard et tagliatelles fraîches aux truffes.
Comté affiné 18 mois.

Ageing & Serving

Up to 10 years. Serve between 10°C and 12°C.
