La Chapelle

2023
A Cabernet Sauvignon with smooth tannins and concentrated fruit.

Appelation

AOC Anjou Rouge

Terroir

Anjou Noir. Schist and sandstone soils of the Armorican Massif, bordered by the Layon.

Viticulture

Vines certified organic since 2024, trained using cordon and double Guyot methods, mostly over 30 years old. Mechanical soil work, with flowering fallow land sown to boost biodiversity and soil life. No chemical inputs, following a transition begun in 2021. Hand-harvested with strict sorting in the vineyard.

Winemaking and Ageing

Minimal intervention in the cellar. The pressing is slow and cold, and our alcoholic fermentations take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Our grapes are fully destemmed before a 21-day maceration.

Vintage

2023 will be remembered as a contrasted vintage on the Loire. A difficult spring under mildew pressure was offset by a hot summer and a lovely late season that allowed satisfying ripeness to be reached. For those who sorted carefully and waited, the reds show concentration, aromatic generosity, and ripe tannins — a grower's vintage, rewarding patience and rigour in the vineyard.

Tasting Notes

The intense purple robe with violet highlights announces an exuberant, generous nose centred on bright raspberry and warm blackberry. The palate is full and enveloping, carried by an almost creamy texture and remarkably smooth tannins for a wine of this age. The sun-drenched, concentrated 2023 vintage expresses itself here in full. A beautiful, fresh, fruity length concludes the tasting.

Food & Wine Pairing

Steak d’espadon snacké sauce rouille et légumes d’été.
Blanquette de veau.

Ageing & Serving

Up to 5 years. Serve between 14°C and 16°C.
